Staff Training, Checks & Appraisals
Staff Training
All of our staff are on an ongoing staff training programme. We ensure that all our staff are up to date with all relevant/required training and any additional training that we feel will be of benefit for themselves and the children in their care.
According to the Scottish Social Services Council (please see Governing Bodies page), their requirements for staff are the following:

SVQ II or equivalent |

Staff Checks
All our staff have to complete rigorous checks with us prior to employment. These include:
- Enhanced Disclosure Scotland Check
- Character Reference
- Professional Reference
- Previous Employers Reference
- GP Reference
- Self Declaration for any Criminal Convictions
Staff Appraisals
All our staff carry out self and management appraisals on a yearly basis. These appraisals enable us to see our staff’s strengths and it there are any areas of development and what training maybe of benefit to the staff member.
Observations
Staff members also carry out monthly “observations”. These observations are based on the National Care Standards. All service users (parents, carers and children) are asked for their feedback on the theme of the month. The staff are also asked for their feedback. The completed Observations are then discussed and the monthly Staff Meeting.
