The Bearsden Club

Hello and welcome to our BPC Karemore Page!  This page contains general information about our club,  for a more comprehensive guide, please email Kirsty@karemore.co.uk for our Parents Handbook.

We are based in Baljaffray Parish Church and have up to 60 children a day.
When your child joins our club, they will be allocated a Key Worker who is responsible for your child and for liaising with you regarding your child’s development and needs.

THE CLUB

The Club is run from 6 individual halls within the Church Centre premises

THE BREAKFAST CLUB

HALL ONE

On your child’s arrival at the club, they will be asked to place their belongings in Hall 1 – they will then be asked to go into Hall 2/3

HALL TWO

Hall two will be set up with various games and activities for you child to play with before going to school – these range from jigsaws, play-dough, board games, card games, train tracks etc.

HALL THREE

Hall three is the Breakfast Room!  The Breakfast Bar has various cereals, fruit, toast, jam, butter, juice, yoghurts, water, milk etc!  The children help themselves (we will assist them if they would like us to) and then find a seat at the table to eat their breakfast.  The children are then asked to take their dirty dishes to “the hatch”.

THE AFTERSCHOOL CLUB

HALL ONE

This hall is used as a "Cloak Room" where the children can leave all their belongings including their school bags etc.  If the children need something from their bags they can simply ask a member of staff.

HALL TWO

This hall is used as a general playroom. We provide a wide range of activities including: Lego, play dough, jigsaws, collage, modeling, marbles etc. This room also features a book corner.

HALL THREE

Hall three is used as our “Snack” room.  The Snack Bar is set up for the children to help themselves to what they would like to eat and to take to the snack table to eat!  We have a laminated announcement on the frieze board which lets everyone know what the snack is for that day!

THE SANCTUARY

The Sanctuary is a very large hall, which we set up with our giant games (giant chess, giant dominoes etc).  This hall can be used for a number of different
activities and is also used for physical games.

HALL FOUR

This is where the children in Primary 4 -7 spend their time at the club.  They also have the option of going into The Sanctuary to play with the giant games and going outside if the weather permits!

This room also features a snack bar.  The Snack Bar is set up for the children to help themselves to what they would like to eat and to take to the snack table to eat!  We have a laminated announcement on the frieze board which lets everyone know what the snack is for that day!

This hall is where all the groups come together at the end of the day for various ring and team games.

HALL FIVE

This is our new “Chill Out” Room which is upstairs.  This room features a “Chill Out” Corner with soft furnishings for the children to relax and have some quiet time with books etc.  We also have a laptop and printer where the children can upload the pictures they have taken on the clubs digital camera and movies they have taken on our video camera (please complete the relevant consent forms featured at the end of this Handbook).  The children also have access to the internet (again, please complete the relevant consent forms featured at the end of this Handbook).

THE GARDENS AND PLAYGROUND

We have use of the church’s gardens and also permission from the school to utilise the playgrounds.  This enables us to get the children outside and play if the weather permits!

GENERAL ROUTINE

We do have a relaxed routine which we try and stick to!  This can be found in our Parents Handbook.  However, we are aware that the children have been in school during the day and do not want their time at the club to be too “regimented” so, we are very relaxed.
